Mercedes-Benz made a very big statement at the North American International Auto Show earlier this month. They're planning to introduce two new hybrid models to the market in 2012. The 2013 Mercedes-Benz E300 BlueTEC HYBRID is headed to Europe. And, the Mercedes-Benz E400 HYBRID, we're happy to say, is headed to the U.S.
Assuming most of you don't have dual citizenship, Mercedes-Benz of South Atlanta, serving Atlanta will focus primarily on the E400 HYBRID, which merges a direct-injection, petrol-powered V6 engine with a petite hybrid motor and lithium-ion battery to produce power and a zero-to-60-mpg acceleration time that's nearly on par with its non-hybrid predecessor - plus improved fuel economy and ultra-low CO2 emissions.
Speaking on the addition of the two new Mercedes-Benz E-Class HYBRID vehicles, Professor Dr. Thomas Weber, Daimler Board Member, Group Research and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars Development says, "With these two E-Class models we are now continuing our comprehensive hybrid offensive. The modular technology opens up a quick way for us to complement other model series with hybrid models..."1
Dr. Weber continues on to explain that Mercedes-Benz was highly cognizant of consumers' different wants in planning their offensive against other luxury hybrid vehicles currently available in the global auto market. For example, while Mercedes-Benz will be offering both a sedan and a wagon variant of the 2013 Mercedes-Benz E300 BlueTEC HYBRID, they'll offer only a sedan version of the E400 HYBRID in the U.S., where wagons are generally found less attractive among car buyers.
